Dream a Little Dream

SOLD. Often when my intention is to create a non representational abstract…it leads to a floral!! As was the case here. Ah well, sometimes you simply must honour the creative flow and follow its lead.

This work evolved into a joyous, yet contemplative floral. Integrating mixed media, and collage as a major player. The hand painted acrylic collage papers lend both interest, and maintain elements of semi- abstraction to the floral theme.

May this piece lead you to “Dream A Little Dream” as well. Do enjoy!

Nestled In

While walking about a West Kootenay neighbourhood looking for inspiration - a fortunate sideways glance was the starting point for this piece.

A beautiful summer morning, with the sun creating interesting shadows and shapes. I was struck by how these vintage homes and yards were literally shoehorned into the block. Yet it seemed each home had “all it really needed”. Regardless of size of structure or physical space. The joy of living without excess was evident.

I hope the feelings of happiness and lightheartedness within this painting will be shared with you, the viewer.

Weatherworn

This neighbourhood is one of my favourites for it’s collection of very old dwellings, and tight proximities.

I approached this piece without concern to representational quality. It was more important to me, for the emotion of the scene to come through.

The use of collage enhanced the weatherworn appearance of the dwellings, and brought even more character into this already “cluster of characters”

Hope you enjoy

Go with the Flow

I find my greatest creative freedom and joy while working in the Abstracted space.

I get lost in the shapes, textures, and spontaneity! This piece(s) is also consistent with my love for all things geometric & rectilinear! :)

A joy to create!
